FORE!!

Recently, I dove headfirst into my 2009 summer employment: snack bar/beverage cart girl at this gorgeous golf course.

Now, please, don't think this is a cake job. Believe me, it has its trials.

It was my first day on the course and with a ridiculously large beverage cart, I was afraid of getting in the way.
  • First of all, I think the cart is distracting to the golfers.
  • Second of all, it's not on my bucket list to get hit by a golf ball. (I've heard it hurts.)
Anyway, my nerves were going a hundred miles a minute the whole time I was out there. The course was pretty full and I couldn't exactly remember the path to follow. So, when I saw a group of golfers teeing off down the way, I just stopped right where I was. I was behind a couple of trees which seemed like a good place to stop. When the group had finished teeing off, I quickly drove away and breathed a sigh of relief.

I silently thanked the grove of trees that were protecting me.
As I looked back, I realized, with horror, that I had been parked
in
the
middle
of
the
fairway.
Embarrassing, dangerous, stupid, embarrassing.
And embarrassing.
There's a learning curve. I think I'll make it.
